New Optoma lenses open up a world of new possibilities

Large venues including houses of worship, gyms, museums, galleries, tourism attractions and corporate venues will now have even greater flexibility for projection with the launch of two new lenses for Optoma’s ProScene projectors, designed specifically for demanding professional applications.

The new semi short and extra long lenses offer a greater range of movement when installing EH503, EH505, W505 and X605 ProScene projectors.

These have previously had just three lens options - short throw, standard throw and long throw.  Now, thanks to the new lenses, venues can site projectors as far back as 10.8 metres and as close as 1.67m to achieve a 100” image (based upon WUXGA resolution projector).

The semi-short throw lens is ideally suited for the simulation environment, with its near 1:1 throw ratio which displays a crystal clear image from a very short distance.

The extra-long lens, which has a zoom range of x1.67, enables an image of between 3m to 20m to be projected. This is extremely beneficial for mobile installations and larger venues such as houses of worship, gyms and museums.

All lenses, including the 0.8:1 short throw lens, can use the full lens shift range. These multiple lens options with zoom (except the short throw lens) and focus adjustment ensure installers get the image size they need. The wide lens shift range gets the image exactly where it is wanted.

Justin Halls, Head of Product Management at Optoma, commented: “The lenses provide even better performance and more flexibility for our ProScene projectors. They are designed exclusively for demanding professional applications that need bright crystal clear images with ultimate reliability when used 24/7”.

The range of movement now available to installers from the two new lenses is shown in the diagram below (based upon the throw ratio for the WUXGA and 1080p projectors).

The four projectors, for which the new lenses are designed, have the full range of resolutions - WUXGA, 1080p, WXGA and XGA, are equipped with full lens shift and are bright (EH505 is 5,000 lumens, EH503 5,200 lumens, W505 5,200 lumens and X605 is 6,000 lumens).

They deliver stunning crystal clear images with ultimate reliability. The dust-sealed, filter free design prevents dust and dirt from affecting the system ensuring optimal image quality with minimal maintenance. They offer full support for Crestron, Extron, AMX, PJ-Link and Telnet LAN commands, enabling the projectors to be monitored and control remotely via a network.  And they are engineered with powerful image blending tools including 3-axis colour matching system and 10x lamp-power steps.

Installers can check the best projector and lens for a project with Optoma’s online distance calculator. This can be used to determine which lens is required, or the screen size or throw distance needed for a current Optoma projector and lens combination. The distance calculator is available to use through Optoma’s website: http://www.optomaeurope.com/distancecalculator/
